The weather in Georgia
Georgia is a small country with a rich climate — from the warm Batumi coast, through humid Tbilisi, to the snow-capped peaks of Kazbegi and Svaneti. On a single trip you can experience 30 degrees at midday and 5 degrees at night in the mountains — which is why planning by season matters.

When to travel — by type of trip
- City and culture: April–June, September–October — pleasant weather, fewer tourists, everything open.
- Mountains and trekking: June–September — Kazbegi, Svaneti and Tusheti. The roads open, the snow melted.
- Beach: June–September — the Black Sea is warm, Batumi and Adjara at their peak.
- Wine and harvest: September–October — Kakheti at its proudest, the harvest, tastings at wineries.
What to pack
- Summer in Tbilisi: very hot at midday — but it cools down at night. Bring a light layer and one for the evening.
- Mountains: always a jacket — even in July. At 2,000 m and up the temperature can drop to 10 degrees.
- Rain: April and October — transitional seasons with showers. A light rain jacket earns its place in the bag.
