Overview
Georgia’s coast is less famous than the Mediterranean — and that’s part of the charm. Batumi is a modern resort city with surprising architecture (skyscrapers next to Soviet buildings and sculptures on the seafront), and around it — villages, coastal trails and an Adjaran cuisine distinct from the rest of the country. A perfect summer itinerary — or a mild winter, when the mountains are snowed in and you’re on the beach.
Day 1: Arrival in Batumi
Arrival, check-in and settling in. First evening on the boulevard — 7 kilometers along the sea, strange and fascinating sculptures, the lit-up Alphabet Tower and a summer mood just waking up. Dinner on the Piazza — Italian-Adjaran, with views of the harbor.
Day 2: Batumi in full
Morning: the Botanical Garden — a cable car over the sea, hundreds of hectares of tropical and subtropical greenery. Two or three hours are enough. Afternoon: beach, old quarter or a museum. Evening: the boulevard at night — bars, music and people out late.
Day 3: The Mirveti waterfalls and Kvariati monastery
A half-hour trip to the north. The arch bridge — loveliest at sunset, when the sun sets over the river. The Mirveti waterfalls — about a 20-minute walk through green forest. The monastery — on a cliff above the river, one of the most beautiful in the area. Back to Batumi for the night.
Day 4: Kobuleti and Ureki
A quiet beach day. Kobuleti — soft sand, shallow water, fewer tourists than Batumi. Perfect for those who want to rest. Optional: Ureki — a magnetic black-sand beach (locals believe it has healing properties). Lunch with Adjaran khachapuri — the local version, different from the Imeretian one.
Day 5: Return
Morning — a local market or one last café. Midday — a flight from Batumi, or train/minibus to Tbilisi (5–6 hours). If you return to Tbilisi — plenty of time for a dinner in the city before the next day’s flight.
