Central Stepantsminda
The square, the restaurants, the marshrutka stop and the jeeps up to Gergeti. Easiest without a car, and where most guesthouses are.
Stepantsminda at the foot of the mountain — a room facing Gergeti
Kazbegi — officially Stepantsminda — sits at the northern end of the Military Highway, two and a half to three hours from Tbilisi, facing the summit of Kazbek. Most people come for a day and miss the point of the place: the morning before the buses arrive, and sunset on Gergeti. Accommodation splits between simple guesthouses in the centre and hotels built around the view. Use the live map below for photos, prices and real-time availability.

Across the river, higher and quieter, at the start of the trail to the church. Good if you set off on the trek early.
Hotels deliberately placed facing Kazbek and Gergeti Trinity. More expensive — and the window is exactly why.
Family guesthouses in the village centre, usually with a home-cooked breakfast. Simple, warm and cheap.
Small modern hotels, some with a balcony towards the mountain. The best balance of price and view sits here.
Design hotels with a spa, a pool and a direct view of Gergeti. Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is the best known of them.
